Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him falling of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with former mentor Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden trophy following the Rome competition and first on a hard court after that period of the previous year.

Success also indicates he has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six championship matches, comprising in that event previously this season.

His retrieving play style and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had led commentators to question if his skill to compete at the highest level was finished.

However the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and play positively, backed up by an improved service.

He recovered from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the concluding five games to go ahead.

Both players traded break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial tour championship, gained dominance to create a third set.

Moutet saved 4 early-game opportunities in a tight final set before the Russian won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
